This Preparatory Course is designed to build English language proficiency to support international students in sitting for Cambridge English Qualification (CEQ) assessments at the A2 Key for Schools and B1 Preliminary for Schools levels. These qualifications correspond to the language proficiency typically expected of students aiming to register for the AEIS examination, which assesses English language literacy for placement into Primary 2 to Primary 5 in Singapore Government Schools.
The course provides a structured and progressive curriculum focusing on developing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Through scaffolded classroom instruction, interactive language practice, and CEQ-style task preparation, students gradually advance toward the competencies required for AEIS readiness.
This course aims to:
▪ Develop foundational to intermediate English language proficiency aligned to CEFR A2 → B1.
▪ Equip learners with the skills to understand and respond to written and spoken English typically encountered in academic and everyday contexts.
▪ Strengthen learners’ confidence and competency in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, following the formats of A2 Key for Schools and B1 Preliminary for Schools examinations.
▪ Familiarise learners with AEIS-style comprehension, vocabulary use, grammar accuracy, and oral communication expectations.
▪ Support students to qualify to register and sit for the CEQ and subsequently for placement through AEIS.
